DESCRIPTION:If you are a Ham operator or just interested in Ham Radio operations\,\nplease come join me at Deans Stand on the Natchez Trace Parkway\,\napproximately 5 miles south of Raymond\, MS\, milepost 73.5. Deans Stand\nis on the east side of the Natchez Trace Parkway\, well marked with a\nlarge sign. Deans Stand site consists of a large parking lot\, picnic\ntable and plenty of large trees to accommodate several wire antennas. It\nalso has a cemetery with grave markers dating back to early 1900’s. \nBring your portable Ham Radio setup including batteries\, radios\, tuners\,\nantennas\, etc. that you can use to set up your portable operations\nstation or just show up\, and we will get you on the air via HF/VHF/UHF.\nAlso bring a chair as there are none except on the single picnic table.\nThere are no bathroom facilities at the site. Any Ham operators that do\nParks On The Air (POTA)\, be sure to bring your login documentation as\nthis is a federal park and you should be able to get credit for POTA\noperations. \nThe purpose of this outing is to have fun\, fellowship with others\, and\nmake contacts. Looking forward to seeing y’all at Deans Stand on the\nNatchez Trace Parkway on August 15\, 2026 at around 9am. I will probably\nbe there early. SUMMARY:W1AW/5 Year of the Club Operation from Mississippi
DESCRIPTION:On July 4\, 2026\, our nation will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The ARRL will support the 2026 yearlong celebration by sponsoring the Worked All States 250 Award (WAS250)( page 76 January QST). During the year W1AW portable will twice visit all 50 states. Mississippi’s turn will be April 1-7\, 2026\, and November 18-24\, 2026. W5UE will be coordinating the activity and can be reached at w5ue@arrl.net. This will be very similar to the 2023 Volunteers on The Air (VOTA) operating event that many of you may have participated in. This is your chance to again be W1AW/5 from your home station. ALL Mississippi Amateurs are encouraged to participate.
