The Central Mississippi Amateur Radio Association has an operation in the field each 3rd Saturday of the month to a location around Jackson. Members of the Central Mississippi Amateur Radio Association and Central Mississippi ARES provided communications support for the fourth annual Breaking the Loop Race held February 28 at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Hams manned water stations and turns, and monitored areas of limited visibility. After the Race they got together at Run Strong Headquarters for a club picture. (photo provided by KJ5ET)
On the third Saturday of each month members of Central Mississippi ARA (CMARA) and members of ARES meet at a local park to have fun, fellowship, and practice operations in preparation for emergencies. Each month QST publishes a listing of Hams who have qualified for the Public Service Honor Roll (PSHR). The PSHR recognizes Hams who give a little extra each month by participating in public service events, emergency responses, on-the-air traffic handling, and helping the Section with various jobs though an appointment.
