Mississippi Hams in Action!!!

The Chickasaw Amateur Radio Association and the Desoto County EMA Reserve Team operated Field Day as K5K from the Desoto County Agri/Education Center in Nesbit. Field Day operations were set up in the Desoto County Special Operations Trailer.

Martin, K5FLU, was the guest speaker at the September Meeting of the Vicksburg ARC. He recounted growing up in the Delta, going to school at Mississippi State and Georgia Tech, and then talking about the beginning of MFJ in Starkville, and its evolution into a major Ham Radio supplier. Martin noted that MFJ now markets over 2,000 Ham products. In the photo Martin was presented a certificate of appreciation for his visit to Vicksburg. George County ARES operates Field Day each year to maintain its emergency communications capability. Other activities are also scheduled like antenna building.
